Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited Incorporation - 20th December, 2002 & Commencement of Business - 1st April, 2003. Through its Agricultural Insurance Plans also referred as National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) or Rashtriya Krishi Bima Yojana - RKBY is completely dedicated to cater the need for protection of the agriculture crops and farmers in India. Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited (AIC) has been formed at the behest of Government of India, consequent to the announcement by the then Hon'ble Union Finance Minister in his General Budget Speech FY 2002-03. AIC has taken over the implementation of National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) which, until FY 2002-03 was implemented by General Insurance Corporation of India. In addition, AIC also transacts other insurance businesses directly or indirectly concerning agriculture and its allied activities.
As we all know Agriculture is the major contributor in Indian economy where the majority of the population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited (AIC) also provide yield-based and weather-based crop insurance plans in 500 districts of India. The main objective is to overcome Unpredictable and uncontrollable weather, natural calamities, pests & diseases for Indian agricultural sector various insurance plans designed by Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited which play a critical role in anchoring a stable growth and protection of farmers. Is also intended to bring change in modern day farming techniques by educating farmers to espouse high-yield farming practices, high value inputs and higher technology in Agriculture.
